El que l'evidència recolza
Molt poca evidència controlada en aquest extrem. Estudis breus informen d'un augment de la glucosa en dejuni i de marcadors lipídics alterats en alguns participants. [1]
Satisfer les necessitats de proteïnes i micronutrients en una sola sessió és realment difícil. Popular, poc estudiat, i la direcció dels marcadors metabòlics no és tranquil·litzadora.
La troballa que la gent perd
A través de la literatura aleatoritzada, els protocols de jejum produeixen pèrdua de pes comparable a la restricció energètica contínua de la mateixa magnitud. On un assaig iguala les calories, el braç de jejum rarament guanya. Això s'informa de manera consistent i es comunica de manera consistent insuficient, perquè "funciona aproximadament tan bé com menjar menys" és un titular pobre.
Encara és un resultat útil. Per a algunes persones, una regla sobre quan menjar és molt més fàcil de seguir que una regla sobre quant, i l'adherència és el que realment determina els resultats durant un any.
Altres protocols
- Menjar restringit en el temps 16:8 — menjar en un termini de 8 hores, dejunar 16
- Menjar en un període restringit d'hora d'inici — finestra avançada, p. ex. 8am-4pm
- La dieta 5:2 — dos dies molt restringits per setmana
- Jejum alternat — alternant dies alimentats i jejuats o de molt baixa caloria
- Jejum prolongat (48 hores i més) — múltiples dies, aigua o ingesta mínima
