Randomizirane primerjave ugotavljajo, da je izguba teže na splošno primerljiva s stalnim omejevanjem kalorij v obdobju 6-12 mesecev. [1]
Primerljivo, ne boljše. Katera deluje, je vprašanje o osebi, ne o protokolu.
Ugotovitev, ki jo ljudje spregledajo
V randomizirani literaturi protokoli posta prinašajo izgubo teže, primerljivo s stalnim omejevanjem energije iste magnitude. Kjer poskus izenačuje kalorije, postna skupina redko zmaga. To je dosledno poročano in dosledno slabo komunikacijo, ker "deluje približno tako dobro kot manj jesti" ni dobra naslovna novica.
To je še vedno koristen rezultat. Za nekatere ljudi je pravilo o tem, kdaj jesti, veliko lažje slediti kot pravilu o tem, koliko, in upoštevanje je tisto, kar dejansko določa rezultate čez leto.
