Šta dokazi podržavaju
Randomizirane usporedbe pokazuju gubitak težine koji je uglavnom ekvivalentan kontinuiranom smanjenju kalorija tokom 6-12 mjeseci. [1]
Ekvivalentno, ne bolje. Koji od njih funkcioniše je pitanje o osobi, a ne o protokolu.
Nalaz koji ljudi propuštaju
U randomiziranoj literaturi, protokoli posta proizvode gubitak težine koji je uporediv sa kontinuiranim smanjenjem energije iste magnitude. Gdje trial izjednačava kalorije, grana posta rijetko pobjeđuje. Ovo se dosljedno izvještava i dosljedno slabo komunicira, jer "funkcioniše otprilike jednako kao manje jedenje" je loša naslovna vijest.
I dalje je to koristan rezultat. Za neke ljude pravilo o tome kada jesti je daleko lakše slijediti nego pravilo o tome koliko, a pridržavanje je ono što zapravo određuje rezultate tokom godine.

- 16:8 vremenski ograničeno jedenje — jedite unutar 8 sati, postite 16
- Rano vremenski ograničeno jedenje — prozor pomjeren rano, npr. 8am-4pm
- Post naizmjeničnih dana — naizmjenično hranjeni i postni ili dani sa vrlo niskim kalorijama
- Jedan obrok dnevno (OMAD) — jedan dnevni obrok
- Produženi post (48 sati i više) — višednevni, voda ili minimalni unos
