La finestra più studiata. Gli studi randomizzati generalmente trovano una perdita di peso comparabile alla restrizione calorica abbinata — il meccanismo è principalmente che una finestra più corta riduce l'assunzione, non che l'orologio stesso faccia qualcosa di extra. [1]
Gli studi TREAT e simili non hanno trovato vantaggi rispetto alla semplice restrizione calorica, e uno ha riportato una maggiore perdita di massa magra. L'attrattiva è l'aderenza, non la superiorità.
Il risultato che le persone trascurano
Nella letteratura randomizzata, i protocolli di digiuno producono una perdita di peso comparabile alla restrizione energetica continua della stessa entità. Dove uno studio equipara le calorie, il braccio di digiuno raramente vince. Questo è riportato in modo coerente e comunicato in modo incoerente, perché "funziona circa quanto mangiare meno" è un titolo poco accattivante.
È comunque un risultato utile. Per alcune persone, una regola su quando mangiare è molto più facile da seguire rispetto a una regola su quanto, e l'aderenza è ciò che determina effettivamente i risultati nel corso di un anno.
Altri protocolli
- Dieta a tempo ristretto precoce — finestra spostata in anticipo, ad es. 8:00-16:00
- La dieta 5:2 — due giorni fortemente ristretti a settimana
- Digiuno a giorni alterni — giorni alimentati e digiuni o a bassissimo contenuto calorico alternati
- Un pasto al giorno (OMAD) — un'unica occasione di consumo giornaliero
- Digiuno prolungato (48 ore e oltre) — più giorni, assunzione di acqua o minima
