Šta dokazi podržavaju
Najviše proučavano vreme. Randomizovana ispitivanja obično nalaze gubitak težine uporediv sa odgovarajućim smanjenjem kalorija — mehanizam je uglavnom to da kraće vreme smanjuje unos, a ne da sama satnica čini nešto dodatno. [1]
TREAT i slična ispitivanja nisu pronašla prednost u odnosu na jednostavno smanjenje kalorija, a jedno je prijavilo veći gubitak mišićne mase. Privlačnost je pridržavanje, a ne superiornost.
Nalaz koji ljudi propuštaju
U randomizovanoj literaturi, protokoli posta proizvode gubitak težine uporediv sa kontinuiranim smanjenjem energije iste magnitude. Gde ispitivanje izjednačava kalorije, armija posta retko pobjeđuje. Ovo se dosljedno izveštava i dosljedno slabo komunicira, jer "to funkcioniše otprilike jednako kao manje jedenje" je loša naslovna priča.
I dalje je to koristan rezultat. Za neke ljude pravilo o tome kada jesti je daleko lakše pratiti nego pravilo o tome koliko, a pridržavanje je ono što zapravo određuje rezultate tokom godine.
Ostali protokoli
- Rano vremenski ograničeno jedenje — prozor pomeren rano, npr. 8am-4pm
- Dijeta 5:2 — dva dana sa jakim ograničenjima nedeljno
- Post naizmjeničnih dana — naizmjenično dani sa hranom i postom ili vrlo niskokalorični dani
- Jedan obrok dnevno (OMAD) — jedan dnevni obrok
- Produženi post (48 sati i više) — višednevni, voda ili minimalni unos
