O que as evidências apoiam
Pequenos estudos de alimentação controlada sugerem que comer mais cedo durante o dia melhora a sensibilidade à insulina e o controle glicémico independentemente do peso, consistente com a biologia circadiana. [1]
Os ensaios são pequenos e os cronogramas são socialmente difíceis de manter. O sinal metabólico é mais interessante do que o sinal de peso.
A descoberta que as pessoas perdem
Na literatura randomizada, os protocolos de jejum produzem perda de peso comparável à restrição contínua de energia da mesma magnitude. Onde um ensaio iguala calorias, o braço de jejum raramente vence. Isso é consistentemente relatado e consistentemente subcomunicado, porque "funciona tão bem quanto comer menos" é uma manchete fraca.
Ainda é um resultado útil. Para algumas pessoas, uma regra sobre quando comer é muito mais fácil de seguir do que uma regra sobre quanto, e a adesão é a coisa que realmente determina os resultados ao longo de um ano.
Outros protocolos
- Jejum restrito a 16:8 — comer dentro de 8 horas, jejuar 16
- A dieta 5:2 — dois dias fortemente restritos por semana
- Jejum em dias alternados — dias alimentados e jejuados ou de muito baixa caloria alternados
- Uma refeição por dia (OMAD) — uma única ocasião de alimentação diária
- Jejum prolongado (48 horas ou mais) — vários dias, água ou ingestão mínima
